C2 - Genograms in Family Assessment

Goal:
To demonstrate the usefulness of Genograms as an effective assessment, treatment and ongoing treatment planning tool for working with family of origin issues in recovery.Objective:
The student will be able to identify multi-generational family issues i.e.; addiction, abuse, moves, deaths, traumas, illness etc. and be better prepared to make more accurate short and long range treatment and after care plans.The student will be able to discuss the connection between today's behavior and behavior carried down for generations.
C4 / C4a - Grief/Loss in Addiction Recovery
10 Hours / 3 Hours
Goal:
To assist counselors in learning a step by step approach to help clients successfully release the pain they have attached to past painful incomplete relationships. Relationships can include but are not limited to: onset of and recovery from addictive behaviors and lifestyles, going to and being released from jail, war, incest/abuse issues, trauma, death, unresolved childhood issues.Objective:
Students will be able to discuss a 6 step process aid clients in effectively releasing the pain of their past.
Participants will be able to define grief to include losses other than death.
Participants will be able to explain the use of time line therapy in this process.
Participants will be able to discuss how the many myths people are taught about not feeling their feelings of loss interrupt their healing.

C7 Psychology of Selves
13 Hours
Goal:
To identify how Voice Dialogue is an effective tool when working with clients in conflict. To demonstrate how the process works.Objective:
The student will be able to discuss how the client is lead into the experience of discussing their issues/conflicts with their primary and disowned selves.The participant will be able to define how the process offers the client an opportunity to experience an internal psychodrama or simply air out two opposing views.
The counselor will be able to discuss how the process can be used in group of individual sessions and as a result all participating will gain a greater awareness of their behavior without the shameful judgment.
C19 - Emotional Discovery Through Poetry / Literature Therapy
13 Hours
This course focuses on using the tenets of expressive therapy through the use of poetry, short stories, movie clips, stones, leaves, etc. It is excellent for Alzheimer's patients, addicts, prison populations, survivors of trauma, children, teens, marriage encounter groups and the elderly.
Goal:
The purpose of this course is to explore and describe the types of poetry, etc. to be used.To explore and describe various setting and patient populations benefiting from Poetry / Literature Therapy.
To understand the role of the therapist and effective use of homework assignments.
Objective:
Professionals will be taught the 4 steps in the process, and strategies for facilitating a session, the dynamics of a group in bibliotherapy and the personal traits of the Bibliotherapist.
C26 - The Twelve Core Functions of a Counselor

Goal:
The goal of the course is to insure that counselors have a thorough understanding of the twelve basic functions and their application in a therapeutic setting.Objective:
Identify components found in an effective treatment plan.
Identify reasons for referring a client.
Discuss the importance of writing good treatment notes.
C35 - Radical Forgiveness

Goal:
The overall goal of this course is to inform participants of a powerful set of strategies to assist their clients in releasing resentments and taking charge of their lives. A great course for anyone working with addicts of all types, anger management, marriage and family issues, Criminal Justice clients and victims of incest, abuse or trauma.Objective:
Participants will be able to discuss the 13 steps of the forgiveness process, the concepts behind the radical Forgiveness Process as well as how to transform the Victim Archetype and their pain. You will also be able to discuss how to facilitate a person or group utilizing the Radical Forgiveness worksheet.
C42 - Conscious Language
12 Hours
Goal:
Conscious Language is about becoming conscious of the words used to express ourselves and our ideas. An excellent process for clients who, in many cases, are shame or guilt based. Often they are angry or better. Many use language that is self-defeating and are unconscious of the language used and its effect on them.Objective:
This course helps therapist point out disempowering language and how to coach the client into using language that will help them heal and move on with their lives. The course points our words and phrases that disown the client from their feeling reality and themselves. It then offers dozens of examples to help correct the problem simply by changing language and expanding ones consciousness.
